This week, I want to talk about something exciting: our new house! We recently moved, and I feel so lucky to be living in a home that we legally own. America truly is a land of opportunities. I’m especially happy because we didn’t have to switch schools, meaning I’ll be able to keep most of my friends. Another exciting thing is that most of the walls are painted blue (which I love), and the best part is that my whole family finally gets to live in our own house, something we’ve always dreamed of.
A lot of my dad’s friends here in America still live in apartments, and even some of his friends who fled to Europe after Afghanistan’s collapse, don’t own houses. So, I feel really grateful that we were able to get this one. Our new home has three floors, a garage (of course!), a basement, three rooms, and two bathrooms.
Moving, though, was not easy, especially with our big family. We had a lot of luggage, and we didn’t even have a moving truck. My dad had to drive back and forth between the old and new houses about ten times to get everything here. By the time we were done, it was 1 AM! We just dropped everything and went to sleep. The next morning, we all woke up and started cleaning and organizing as much as we could. We’re not fully done yet, but we’ve made a lot of progress!
There are a few downsides to this house. It’s smaller than our old one, so we have less space for our stuff. And there are lots of stairs, which can be tiring for my five-year-old brother. But even with those small things, I really love this house. We’re lucky, some houses have mold or mice or other problems, and ours doesn’t. Alhamdulillah, we’re blessed to have this home.
Now that I’ve shared this big achievement, I also want to talk about why I haven’t been posting on my blog every week like I promised. I know I’ve said this before, but I want to explain it clearly. The end of the school year has been super busy! We had SOLs (Standards of Learning tests), lots of homework, and big school projects I had to research at home. On top of that, we were busy cleaning and packing weeks before the move because of how much stuff we had.
All of this made it hard for me to keep up with my writing. I’m really sorry for not posting every week like I said I would. I know it’s not your fault, I should make time for the blog, but please remember, I’m still a kid, and I’m still learning. I’ll try my best to get back to posting weekly now that SOLs are almost done!
Anyway, that’s all I wanted to share this week. Have you ever moved before? Was your new home bigger or smaller than your old one? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you so much for reading my blogs. Bye, everyone!
